    INCREASED LONGEVITY FOR HEATPROOF MAKEUP

We were well and truly in summer, with the lovely weather and the not-so-lovely humidity. Summer is the time when I find it particularly hard to work with makeup because heat plus makeup just doesn’t add up. On twitter, I’ve seen some people also comment on the fact that it’s difficult to wear makeup in the summer without it slipping off of your face ten minutes later, so I’ve compiled some steps which should help with the task in hand.

    Primer
This one is a no brainer, I happen to wear primer all year round, but in the summer time, it’s customary that I wear one. I really like the Maybelline Baby Skin primer as it mattifies and prepares the skin for makeup and really increases the wear of makeup. Eye primer is another thing that I wear all year round as unfortunately I have oily eyelids, but a beauty blogger favourite and absolute staple of mine is the Urban Decay Primer Potion. It consists of a thick consistency, and washes over the eye lid.
    Long Lasting Foundation
Another obvious step, but one that many fail to remember. There’s no point in wearing a foundation that you know only lasts four hours because in the heat, that wear time is considerably reduced. The Body Shop BB Cream lasts really nicely in the heat and doesn’t get cakey when it’s being powdered. The Revlon Nearly Naked is a fantastic foundation because it looks really naturally dewy on the skin and if I sweat whilst wearing this foundation; it still doesn’t slip off my face, by powdering it or in extreme circumstances, leaving it, it looks absolutely fine.
    Powder
In the warmer months, powder is your best friend. I tend to only use two powders in the summer, the first being the Vichy Dermablend setting powder as it’s very finely milled and really sets the makeup without feeling like you’ve actually put on another layer of makeup; however being a loose powder, it isn’t practical for on the go use and so I use the Maybelline Fit Me powder. This is an easy to use quick fix product which is accompanied with a mirror and powder puff too. It does a good job for touch ups and doesn’t cake up on the face either.
    Fuss Free Lipstick
The last thing you want to be doing on a hot day is constantly worrying about your lipstick and whether it has faded, bled or ended up on your teeth. The Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer is a really good lacquer and one that I stand by for a nice bold but fuss free lip, it lasts for a really long time and sets and provided you do the lip trick, you won’t end up with any on your teeth. For those of you who like an actual lipstick, a Maybelline Colour Whisper or Revlon Lip Butter is where it’s at; they both have really nice but buildable pigmentation and don’t wear away horribly and are also really nice and hydrating.
What do you do to increase the longevity of your makeup in the heat?
