For the past few years, I’ve actually
really enjoyed baking. However there have always been a few things that I have
never been able to master from scratch – one of them being a sponge cake. One
evening, one of my flat mates, Kayleigh told me how to bake this simple sponge
cake and it has soon become a favourite of mine and I’ve made it quite a few
times and it always goes down a treat with my flat mates! It’s so quick and
easy to make too, which is even better!
Cooking
Time: 20 – 40 minutes
Serves:
10
INGREDIENTS
3 Eggs
6oz Caster Sugar
6oz Self Raising Flour
6oz Butter
1tsp Milk
METHOD
1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas
mark 4.
2. Grease and
line one 20x20cm/8in baking tin. Use baking paper and lightly coat the sides
and base of the tin with butter and apply the baking paper over the butter.
3. Beat
together, the eggs, caster sugar, self-raising flour, butter and milk in a
large bowl until smooth.
4. Put all of
the mixture into the baking tin and put it in the oven for 20-40 minutes.
5. Once the
cake it cooked through, let it cool down on a cooling rack.
6. Enjoy! You
can make your own icing, but uni students are on a budget and it’s lovely as it
is with a hot chocolate or cup of tea!
Bon
appetite!
