THE BEAUTY & STYLE EDIT: FEBRUARY

In my opinion, February has been quite a slow month. Nothing huge or significant has happened, although I finally decided to leave a job that I really wasn’t happy in and my family and I have started playing badminton again. Unlike last month, there are a fair few style and beauty items that I have absolutely been loving! Not so much in the outfit department, as I’m still trying to make a little shift in that area, but I have been obsessed with accessories! February was a month where I tried and tested quite a few new products and I’m so excited to share my thoughts on some of these new finds!

STYLE

MIU MIU Sunglasses - The weather has been getting a little bit crisp and brighter recently and I’ve finally been able to properly get wearing my latest acquisition to my sunglass collection! I love how oversized they are and the fact that they’re black makes them very wearable for various different outfits. Being oversized means that I’ve been able to wear them on days that I don’t wear much makeup. These are most definitely my current favourite pair of sunglasses.

Nomination Bracelet - This bracelet has more or less not left my wrist ever since I got it. I love how minimal it is, and whilst being perfect and dainty enough to wear on a daily basis, it still adds a nice touch to any outfit – whether it’s for a casual or formal occasion. The mix of silver and gold metals is something that I’m new to, as I don’t typically wear gold jewellery, but I think this is a nice introductory piece without being too overbearing.

Casio Watch - I really love pairing this watch with my Nomination bracelet and I like how the link detailing work well with each other. Again I like the mix of silver and gold metals, as it incorporates a vintage feel into a contemporary piece. The simplicity of this watch also compliments the style that I’m trying to go for which is simple and classic. The price of this watch makes it even better and it doesn’t look nowhere near as inexpensive as it was!

BEAUTY

PIXI Eyeshadow Palette* - This eyeshadow palette is right up my alley! It’s full of pigmented neutral eyeshadows. I love mixing the mattes and shimmers and being a warm tone palette, it really suits me as I have a golden undertone in my skin. My favourite shades are ‘honey bear’ which is a lovely transition shade, and ‘tu tu’ which is a gorgeous crease colour and when I want a nice golden shimmery shadow, I tend to opt for ‘bubbly’. The range of lighter and darker shades makes it very versatile and suitable for transitioning from day to night makeup.

Kat Von D Lock It Leatherweight Primer - I never do my base makeup without applying a primer first, and I have absolutely loved this primer. This primer creates a lovely base for my makeup and I love how hydrating it is. I’ve been using silicon-based primers for a couple of years now, but I much prefer bases that have a gel texture to them as it feels less slippery on my face and my makeup tends to adhere to it better. Also the packaging of this primer (and all Kat Von D products) is to-die-for!

PIXI Lower Lash Mascara* - If you saw my Full Face of first Impressions video, you’ll see that from the first time I tried this mascara, I already knew that I loved it! It makes my lower lashes look a lot more defined and I’ve also been using it for the inner lashes on my top lashes and I like how it doesn’t clump my lashes together. I tend to get really messy when it comes to applying my mascara and by having such a cute, tiny wand it’s a lot easier to be more precise and make less mess.

MAC Taupe Lipstick - I have been looking for the perfect nude lipstick that would work well with my skin tone and ‘taupe’ has become my go-to everyday lipstick. It’s a stunning nude lipstick with a warm brown undertone. Although it’s a matte lipstick, it’s not dehydrating or drying on my lips as other matte lipsticks such as Ruby Woo. I like pairing this with my MAC Chestnut lip liner as it makes it a slightly darker nude lipstick, however I also tend to wear it alone, when I’m being a bit lazy! This shade goes well with so many makeup looks too and is a great easy, everyday shade.
