A GUIDE TO: EXPIRATION DATES FOR BEAUTY PRODUCTS

A common misunderstanding many people have regarding beauty products is not knowing what that tiny symbol at the back is for. Well I can tell you it's not a random factory sign thing - in fact it's an indication of how long you should keep the product once you've opened it. For most people with a normal sized makeup/beauty stash, it's likely that products will get used before the best before date. For someone with an interest in beauty or in the industry, it can be difficult as not everyone has a blog/YouTube channel with it documented on.

    OTHER SIGNS

    • Appearance: If it looks bad, for example your mascara has dried up or if your foundation has discoloured.
    • Texture: Check for a change in texture, or if it's become unusually dry.
    • Smell: If it smells bad, or like it's gone off, it probably has. Bin it.
