HOW TO BE SINGLE ON VALENTINE'S DAY

As much of many of us (single or not) may try our hardest to, there’s just no getting away from the commercial cliché, which is Valentine’s Day. I’ve never really been in a relationship and so I’ve always been single on Valentine’s Day, so I’ve definitely mastered the art of being single on the day, which is merely focused on couples. So, if like me, and many others, you’re finding yourself single on what is essentially, just another day, here’s how you can make it a day to show yourself some loving!

    | SPEND IT WITH YOUR GALS OR GUYS
If there’s a group of your friends who are single, just spend it with each other and have a great time going out for a meal, going clubbing or just staying in and enjoying each other’s company whilst watching Survival of the Fittest. I don’t do it often, but when I do, I love spending time with my friends, even if it’s talking about complete and utter nonsense. I can’t remember what I did last year, but this year, I’m working all day, which I’m more than fine with because being single, it is just another day!

    | TREAT YOURSELF
Like I said, Valentine’s Day is just another opportunity for brands to sell you a sh*t load of chocolates and huge teddy bears that you quite frankly, don’t want or need. Some people are a little more extravagant with their gifts, which are fine. I personally love to use Valentine’s Day as an excuse to treat myself. Last year, I bought myself a couple of rings from Pandora and this year, I bought myself a little something from Louis Vuitton. In my mind I justify it by saying that I don’t have anyone else to buy something for, and there’s no one to get me anything (obviously Valentine’s Day and love isn’t about gifts, but hang on here) so I just get myself something.

    | FOCUS ON SELF CARE
This is probably the most important thing that should be practiced whether you’re in a relationship or not and 24/7, all 365 days of the year. Self-care can come in so many different forms and is subjective to the individual. This may be having a nice hot bath with a Lush bath bomb, sitting in bed and reading a book, meditating, whatever floats your boat. I tend to love an evening full to the brim of pamper prep. This is everything from washing my hair, doing my nails, having a shave, doing a face mask and having a lovely hot bath whilst watching a bit of Netflix.
