As much as I genuinely enjoy applying my
makeup in the mornings, however there are some days when I either don’t have
time or want something different rather than the usual everyday makeup routine.
It may be difficult to understand, when you’re used to spending half an hour on
your makeup each morning, but five (or maybe seven) minute makeup is actually a
thing. This type of makeup look would be perfect if you’re a mum, a student or
even if you just don’t have an abundance of time in the mornings and would
rather have some extra time to sleep. It’s quick, easy and of course, fuss
free!
BASE
– I like to use
products that are quick and easy and don’t take a year and a half to blend, so
I like to opt for either a tinted moisturiser or a BB cream. They’re not too
heavy on the skin, yet still have a bit of coverage to even out your skin tone
and give you a nice base. The Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser (review) and the *Caudalie Vinoperfect
Tinted Moisturiser (review) are two
really nice picks – a great hybrid between makeup and skincare, providing
skincare benefits with the appearance of light coverage makeup. Next up is
concealer, I believe this is quite an important step, particularly to apply
under the eyes, to conceal any under eye circles and to brighten up under the
eyes to make you appear more awake. If you want an even quicker fuss free
makeup, you can completely scrap the tinted moisturiser and use a concealer in
place of it. My all-time favourite concealer is the Nars Radiant Creamy
Concealer (review) as it’s not too
heavy under the eye, but conceals blemishes and under eye circles very well.
The finally step for the base is some form of cheek product. I would personally
opt for highlighting to strobe as this would take place of contour, but it
really depends on preference as some people rather have blusher, bronzer or
contour. My highlighter of choice would be the Niod Photography Fluid (review) because being a liquid
highlighter makes it quick and easy to apply and blend in as well as giving a
subtle natural glow.
EYES – On days like this, I’m very simple when it comes to the eyes. I completely ditch the eyeshadow palettes and the brow pencils and strip it right back to basics! On the brows front, I go for a simple brow tinted brow gel, which tends to be the Maybelline Brow Precise Fiber Filler as it not only sets my brows in place, but it adds some little fibers and a tint to help fill in any sparse areas, giving the appearance of thicker, fuller brows. Eyeshadow is something you can take or leave, but personally, if I decide to wear it on fuss free makeup days, I always go for a matte eyeshadow – either Kevyn Aucoin eyeshadow in ‘light bone’ (review) or ‘wedge’ by MAC. My final product for the eyes is mascara. Mascara is something that’s completely subjective to the individual. Some light lengthening, others like volumising and some like both. My current go-to mascaras are the Maybelline Lash Sensational, L’Oreal Telescopic and the L’Oreal Superstar X Fiber mascara.
LIPS
– For lips you could
literally do anything. Something quick and easy would be a liquid lipstick as
there’s generally minimal top-up and you apply it straight from the applicator.
Either that or a bog standard lipstick, that doesn’t necessarily require a lip
liner as this makes it quick in the mornings and easy to top up throughout the
day. My current default lip products are the *Pixi LipLift in ‘Sheer Rose’,
‘Taupe’, ‘Plumful’ and ‘Twig’ by MAC. These are all extremely easy and fuss
free.
